How to Keep Yourself Accountable

Losing weight is a priority in many people’s lives for a variety of reasons. Some people are concerned about being overweight because of increased risk of health issues while others want to shed a few pounds to look and feel their best. Whatever your weight loss goals are, it’s important to keep yourself accountable! It’s hard to accomplish any goal on your own and it always helps to track your progress and have other people paying attention to your efforts. Here are some ways to keep yourself accountable to your weight loss goals and programs.

Use a Tape Measure

A tape measure is a great way to monitor your weight loss progress over time. Measure your waistline and other areas you are trying to slim down before you start your program and then take additional measures every week. It can be very encouraging to see the numbers shrinking!

Write Down Your Diet

Keeping a food diary is a great way to hold yourself accountable for what you’re eating. You can list the foods or calories that you’re eating to keep track of the total amount. A good trick is to write down what you are about to eat just before you eat it – that makes you think twice about how much you’re consuming.

Work Out With Friends

Exercise is an important part of weight loss and your health in general. Ask your friends if they’d like to start a regular workout routine with you, whether it’s walking in the morning, going to the gym or other activities. That way you can hold each other to your plans even if one of you wants to skip a day!
